According to Dad, Frank Day served in the army in South Africa during both the
Zulu  and Boer Wars.
He also worked for de Beers in some capacity. During the Boer War he buried
some de Beer diamonds to protect them from theft during the conflict.
Afterwards on returning them to de Beers he was rewarded with nothing more
than a letter of thanks.
